I recently received an appraisal request for a proposed modular residence. It’s been some time since I had completed one, so I started pulling some prior data for analyzing modular vs. stick built housing.

NOW, I know what you’re thinking. Modular is just a fancy name for manufactured housing, right ? Well, maybe and maybe not. The big difference is whether or not we’re talking “on frame” or “off frame” modular. The later being a superior quality of construction in addition to meeting all state and local building codes.

Interestingly enough, I see where a local builder, Joe Copeland, just finished volunteering his time to help build the first modular home for the Extreme Makeover Show; set to air on May 16th. I had the pleasure of meeting Joe just last week.
