It was recently announced that Tyndall Air Force Base is in the running with three other bases for a F-22 mission. This is encouraging news for Bay County, Fl. especially in light of the fact that Tyndall has started a draw down of two F-15 fighter squadrons.
The F-15 draw down is yet another blow to the Bay County economy that will have a significant impact for this area. Considering that the draw down will impact up to 900 jobs, unemployment trends are out of control.
Congressman Allen Boyd’s office is reporting that as many as 500 jobs could be recognized if Tyndall Air Force Base wins outs.
The announcement of which base will receive the additional F-22’s is expected to take place in August. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best !

Thanks for the news. I have relatives at Tyndall Air Force base and will be interested to know if they win.
Bryan,
You are welcome. Wow – It’s a small world isn’t it. We’ll see how the next couple of months play out.
