Flying High in Bay County, FL.

by Wendell Browne on July 30, 2010

Back in May, I discussed that Tyndall Air Force Base was in the running with three other installations for an F-22 Raptor mission. Folks, it’s time to celebrate.

It was announced yesterday that Tyndall Air Force Base has been selected for the mission. This is excellent news for our area and certainly a welcomed change to hear some good news for once. This announcement signals the potential for 600 new jobs for the area.

More importantly is the fact that the addition of this new squadron will offset the pain of the F-15 draw down that has been taking place at Tyndall Air Force Base and the economic impact from the losing two F-15 fighter squadrons.

A special Thank You to everyone that fought to secure this mission, the community leaders, and Bay County in general. It was reported that one of the reasons Bay County was selected was due to community support. So, Bay County, give yourself a round of applause….. You’ve done an excellent job !
